Wakefern requires all shipments, specifically for products on the Food Traceability List (FTL), to provide a Traceability Lot Code and Traceability Lot Code Source in two areas: 1) in the EDI 856 Advanced Ship Notice (EDI 856), and 2) on the Bill of Lading. This updated information on the EDI 856 will ensure smooth operations and minimize data entry errors.
Vendors that are currently not sending an EDI 856, and/or not sending an EDI 856 with the Traceability Lot Code, the Traceability Lot Code Source, plus other required KDEs need to begin doing so immediately. They must also provide that same information on the Bill of Lading. Vendors who currently do not have this capability need to address this with their technology group and advise Wakefern when they will comply.
