KEASBEY, NJ (February 20, 2024) – Price Rite Marketplace and Feed the Children teamed up to host nine anti-hunger events in 2023 as part of their annual Feeding Minds & Bodies campaign. The program distributed approximately 360,000 pounds of food and essentials valuing nearly $2 million to more than 22,000 individuals in communities where Price Rite Marketplace stores operate.
The events were held in cities across the Northeast from June through November, and benefited families who struggle with food insecurity. Each family, pre-identified by local community partners, received a 25-pound box of food, a 15-pound box of essentials and personal-care items, and additional shelf-stable items provided by Price Rite Marketplace. Another 2,000 children were also provided backpacks filled with school supplies to help them with the start of the school year.
“We take pride in supporting the communities our Price Rite Marketplace stores serve,” said Kevin McDonnell, president of Price Rite Marketplace. “Thank you to Feed the Children and all our corporate and local partners who helped us provide fresh food and essentials to families across the Northeast this season.”
State and local elected officials showed their support at the events, speaking at opening ceremonies and helping distribute food. Local community partners, Price Rite Marketplace associates and Feed the Children representatives also volunteered to run each event.
“Feed the Children is grateful to work alongside Price Rite Marketplace. A widespread issue like childhood hunger will only be solved when enough people work together,” said Travis Arnold, president and CEO of Feed the Children. “We are proud of our collaboration to serve over 5,000 families with much needed supplies this year.”
