Wakefern Food Corp. and ShopRite are honored to be partnering with the states of New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to provide COVID-19 vaccines at a select number of our ShopRite Pharmacy stores.
The pharmacies are following the federal government’s distribution schedule, and are taking a phased approach to the vaccine’s distribution, focusing on those individuals at highest risk of exposure. In this first phase, persons working in the healthcare profession are prioritized to receive the vaccine.
“We are excited to be part of the initial stages of this unprecedented public health campaign as we begin vaccinating healthcare workers who are on the front lines in the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Jeffrey Mondelli, RPh, Wakefern’s Vice President of Pharmacy, Health & Beauty.
Currently, vaccines are not available for the general public. However, ShopRite anticipates expanding access to the vaccine as soon as the government enters the next phase of the vaccine’s distribution.
“We stand ready to serve and will continue to provide increased access to this life-saving vaccine as new expanded eligibility guidelines are released by the CDC,” said Mondelli.
As part of its partnership with the federal government, ShopRite pharmacies have received an initial shipment of the Moderna vaccine – which requires two inoculations. There is no charge to receive the vaccination.
The store locations administering the vaccine were chosen in coordination with the New Jersey State Department of Health.
